Stefan Momma was born and raised in Germany. Doug "discovered" Stefan through the Internet and the two were able to meet when Stefan came to America and taught a class at IBM in San Jose, California in early 1998.

Doug and his wife were able to meet Stefan again on a trip to Germany in late 1998 to visit birthplaces of many of Doug's ancestors.
