Großkarlbach is located about 50 kilometers south of Mainz and 20 kilometers west of Mannheim (about 7 kilometers past Frankenthal). It is a very small village about 1 kilometer south of Autobahn A6 (Highway E50). The exit off of the Autobahn is at Grünstadt. The village of Gerolsheim is a few kilometers to the East. Gerolsheim is the village to which David Mumma (25) returned and married Gertraud Neumann. on 23 February 1789.
